Berlin - Shopping tips

I'll admit that i am quite a shopper when im outside Denmark. I use all my money outside Denmark pretty much. And now that i have been in Berlin 4 times now, i though i could come with a few tips where to shop and what to think about, when you are in Berlin and want to spend some money.

AlexanderPlatz
My personal favorite place to be in Berlin! There is always some kind og market here. When i was there the had a huge easter market with live music in the evening. But it does attract a lot of people and sadly also a lot of gypsies who will try to convince you that they are raising money for some charity for mute or deaf people. They normally go around in groups and spreads out in a small area and holds a sign up for you to read and sign.

  • Anyway my favorite clothes store Primark. It is crazy cheap and they have something for everyone! Women, men and children. But it obvious! This store is stuffed with people and it hard to get around. I went there an afternoon and gave up but when i came the day after before noon there was very few people and i could spend too many money in there. Yet again!
  • Another store worth visiting if you love technology or music is Saturn. A huge builing you cant oversee. If you can't find a speciel CD or game at home, you are sure that Saturn has it. They basiclly have all new gadget and i have bought everything from camara bags to headsets here. I normally write down a whole list of stuff i need to buy, before i'm going to Germany to find a Saturn.
  • Alexa mall is just across the road (Otto-Braun Straße) from Alexander Platz. It's a really ugly mall (sorry) and i guess a architectural experiment? But it is a great place to shop as well! If you are a little geeky as me you may visit Elbenwald when you are there. They have some great merchandise from movies and books like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars etc. In this Mall they have Media Markt which is alot like Saturn.
Market at Alexanderplatz

Kurfürstendamm
Kurfürstendamm is kind of like Oxford Street in London if you have to compare with anything. It is a 3,5 km long shoppingstreet but if you are looking for something not too expensive, this is not really a place for you. It is quite a nice walk down the sidewalk and looking at the windows of the different design stores, but i can't simply afford it myself. Sure there is a few huge H&M placed on the street and an awesome old school music store CITY MUSIC there is fun to visit, but after the record store be turned around again and headed to Hard Rock Cafe which is also placed on Kurfürstendamm. But if you are at Kurfürstendamm i have a few things you could visit.
  • At the end of Kurfürstendamm near Berlin ZOO there sometimes happen to be a smaller market like at AlexanderPlatz or some street artists doing something entertaining.
  • If you go along Kantstraße (from the zoo crossing) you might find a few Chinese stores. It is Berlins "Chinatown" if you can call it that. These stores are really quaint and is stuffed with everything good from the eastern culture. I think i saw an antique Egyptian store as well. But the reason i went on this long walk down Kantstraße was to find the Japanese store! It is once again one of my geeky stores where you can buy japanese cartoons "mangas" (most are in german) and japanese candy. They do as well have clothes and a really cool kawaii foto booth! I was so tempted to take some cute pictures but it's not that fun alone.
  • If you go the other was (from the zoo crossing) you end up at Tauentzienstraße. It is too a shopping street and here you find the extremly expensive but beautiful mall KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) and Lego store. If you turn down Passauer Straße next to KaDeWe there is a huge underground creative store called Idee. which is worth a visit, if you are in need of art supplies of any kind.
U-bahn on Kurfürstendam

Spandau
Spandau was an old german city that got swallowed by the big city of Berlin but it remains a quite place and not so downtown-ish as the rest of Berlin. If you take the U-bahn to Altstadt Spandau (which is still in zone B) you can go around and enjoy a bit of shopping in what seems like a normal little german city. The rivers Havel and Spree meets here so there is also a opportunity to eat near the water.
  • If you take the U-bahn to the endstation (one more stop from Altstadt Spandau) to Rathaus Spandau or follows the street Carl-Schurz-Straße you are again in the big city. In front of the City Hall (Bürgeramt Rathaus Spandau) there is often a market and it is known for this market actually.
  • Not a long walk from the City Hall is the Spandau Arcaden. It was one of my favorite places because it is for normal people! (joke aside) Not all design stores and all that. It is a really pretty mall and there is touch screens that can help you to find everything in there. If you are looking for clothes you get a whole list or if you want somthing to eat, it can show you where to find it. In engelish. When i was there they had some costume play going on and a group of stormtrooper were going around. It was really awesome! And if you go there, make sure to try the icecream at Eiscafe Fantasia-del-gelato. It is fantastic!!!
Spandau Arcaden
Grocery Stores
If you want to save some money and don't want to eat out every day you can buy a lot of sandwiches and fruit-to-go in the grocery stores. They are normally not at the turist places but search and you will find. There is a page that can help you find the nearest grocery store, if you have an address of where you are, but the page is really confussing to me, but i hope it will help you anyway http://www.supermarktcheck.de/supermaerkte/berlin/1/
  • For food you will need to find an Aldi, Lidl or Rewe ect. Personally i love Rewe the most because of their selection of non-milk products now that i am allergic and they are very kind to vegetarians as well.
  • For everyday care and sanitary stuff you should search for DM, Schlecker or Müller. They are all very cheap and has a huge selection of shampoo, parfume and what ever you need like that. There is a DM on AlexanderPlatz.

Aarhus - Shopping and ARoS

Last week i ended up in Aarhus on a one-day trip with a friend. It was first planed the day before now that i didn't know if i had work or not.

We where there so early that the stores were not opened yet. We used the time to go up and down the escalators in Bruuns Galleri and i guess people around us though we were crazy. But we were amused!

Anyway it was only casual shopping but we are both choosy in what we buy so it didn't take many hours before we were done. We didn't want to go home now that we told our old people that we wouldnøt be home for dinner, so we ended up googling the famous art museum ARoS and found our way there.

It's 90DKK per person under 28 and it's quite fun to be there! You don't have to be into art to have great time. There is a lot of thing to experience right now. Smoky rooms with a lot of colours (hard to explain but very cool!) and buttons to press. There was the most creepy oldfashion carousel which played spooky music and it started laughing too. It was a bit like a horror house!
And of course we said hello to the famous art piece Boy by Ron Mueck.

Winter Wonderland in London

The main reason we were in London was to see Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
We had heard it was really pretty and magical here in the cold and we just had to see it!

The first attempt to go there failed. We were simply too late and when we got there people were leaving in big numbers and were overflooded the Underground near by. We had to wait a long time to actually get a table at Hard Rock Cafe, so we didn't make it to the other side of Park Lane in time. It's so close though! Haha

Anyway it was HUGE! (second time we were lucky hihi) I have never seen so much Christmas at one place! Stalls with so many different kinds of food and christmas sweets. There were rollercoasters as big as in the stationary amusement parks in Denmark. Here they build them only for use in 1½ month and removes them again. It's crazy!

We only went there at night so you could see all the christmas lights and don't really see the grey sky and the puddles around the place. They were there of course but you were only seing the beautiful decoreated trees and stalls and everything!

If you are going to visit Winter Wonderland this year or next year, remember to find a stell where they sell "Tokens". It's the way to pay anything in there if you want to try the rollercosters or ice skating etc.

I'll put a few extra pictures in this post than i normally do. So you can see how big and beautiful it was!
Some pictures are taking by my friend Ayla :3

Andorra trip - River rafting

In the middle of my stay in Spain we took a little trip to Andorra. If you don't know what it is, it's a little independent state between France and Spain. They are not a part of EU, but they do have euros. It's kind of strange but yeah. So i can say, that i have officialy been outside Europe!
(And a quick note. Do NOT text or call anyone from there! It is expensive!)

There was a lot of police and security at the border to Androrra. Mostly out of Andorra. It's supposed to be a lot cheaper to shop in Andorra, so a lot of people are bringing too much out of the state, so they have a lot of limitations on how much alcohol, cigarettes and CANDY you can buy. Yes.. Candy.. good lord.

Anyway, i was not impressed by the prices on the stuff in Andorra. Mostly because i don't care about brands at all. Okay in Computers and IT maybe. But not clothes, jewelry, make-up and all that stuff. I still think it was very expensive, but maybe it's because i don't know what brands use to cost in Denmark or Spain. I only got a shirt with long sleeves because i was really cold and a bit of chocolate there.

But it was also close to the border where we were going river rafting! I do believe it was a olympic training place. We were told so. I was a little afraid of it in the start... River Rafting? Me? No... but then again..

It was really fun! A lot of work for the arms but you can't do anything else but enjoy it! If you ever get that chance to try river rafting. DO IT! For the love of god. And you got to wear this really sexy wet suit... well.. it is a wet suit.. i can't promise you sexy.. in any way..

On our way through the pyrenees to Andorra

It does not matter where in Andorra you are. Mountains everywhere! So beautiful!

Maybe not sexy but definitely wet suits... xD

A great picture of the whole crew trying to pull Laura indside the boat again! xD

1 day trip to Flensborg

So yesterday i took a Spontaneous trip over the border to Germany to visit Flensborg.
This time it was not only for shopping like many danes do, but just to relax and walk around a little.

We went there around noon and the city was full of like even though it was Thursday. We found a restaurant/cafe, in the end of the shopping street Großen Strasse, called Cafe Central. It was pretty big and i'm sure it is a place to party in the weekend. All the tables outside were taken so we had to sit inside. The dishes were classic german food but not the best i have had. If i have to eat german food at noon i usually go for fish, because it's not too heavy a dish, but it tasted more like butter it was fried in, than actually fish.

I really liked their shopping street and the shopping center Flensburg Galarie. I found one of my favoirte stores called Saturn. It's a huge electronic store with a lot of DVD's, CD's and games.
Also i found this really geeky store at Großen Strasse called Gandalph. It was filled with books, merch and mangas! My geeky heart was bleeding because it was all in German and even though i do understand german, i only read books in English or Danish.
Near the big church in town there was a litlle flea market. Mostly old people trying to sell old porcelain and vinyls but very charming!

One thing i have always loved about Germany is the many Eis-cafés! They have every kind of ice creme you can imagine and i can't understand why it's not a thing in Denmark. When im in Germany in the summer im going to a eis-cafe at least one time every day!

Cologne/Köln Shopping

As always i go crazy (well i think i do) when im in any big city. When im with my parents we always end up splitting up so they can go out and get a drink or something while im shopping.
Köln was awesome! There was quite a few awesome stores but i have been shopping a bit too much lately (especially clothes) so i tried to keep my purchases at a minimum.
1. I made a big deal out of not forgetting my sunglass at Majas the week before my vacation.. but guss who forgot them anyway? So i bought two new pairs because my eyes were dying.
2. I have been in 4 different Hard Rock Cafes (Berlin, Prague, London and now Cologne) but i have never bought anything in their shops for myself. So finally i got a sweatshirt which i think i will love when it get colder!
3. Tartan! Do i have to say more? Bought in France though :3
4. The cutes sucks ever *.*  i just had to buy them and i think they look cool with my Underground London platforms!

1.Yes now it's my turn to read The Fault In Our Stars. I got the english version of it and i'll get started with it as soon im done with Divergent!
2. Earrings for my Helix piercing. it's not healing so well so i can't wear them yet, but i just had to buy these!
3. Earphone splitters! instead of sharing one pair of headphones and then it sounds awful because it's stereo, then you can use this and both hear wonderful music *.*  i like these kind of brilliant inventions!!!
4. A little scrapbook and photocorners. I just need to get started on it now. Cause i have collected quite a few thing i want to put in scrapbooks.

Home again!

So i am finally home after 15 days away from my own bed! Sure i love the caravan but my own bed is the best!
What have been happening?!

We started of by driving to a city called Celle in Germany. That night Germany became worldmaster in football or something like that so there was firework all night and people was screaming and laughing on the camp site. It was really weird though!

After that we drove to Rüdesheim for the 8th time. Yes. My parents are addicted to that place! I really like the place and i know people there by now and i can go around there without getting lost, but it is a bit boring to be at the same place every summer now that i have an inner Marco Polo that wants to get out and see the whole world.
I did get my parents up in a castle we have only drove by before, Reichenstein. It was really pretty and i really got inspired by being there. Maybe i will do some research and maybe write a something. I don't know yet!

After more than a week in Rüdesheim we were visiting the family in France. They are always really sweet but i don't understand a word of what they are saying! Only one of them are speaking propper danish so it's kind of hard talking with them. Anyways this year i finally got to taste frog! I know it sounds nasty and i had the same feeling at first but i learn to eat snails when i was 12 or something so i have just waited for my family to make some frog for me! I don't know if i liked it though... they say it tastes like chicken but nah... It was not horrible nor great. I can eat it again for sure but it will never be my favorite!

I always like shopping! My mom and dad hates it... but i convinced them to go to Köln a few days so i could go shopping AND sightseeing! I have NEVER seen so many punkers in my life at on place! They were everywhere! And it felt relly good! Even the "normal" people were wearing band T-shirts and i was in heaven! They didn't care that people looked different. When we were eating at this fancy restaurant an old steampunk couple sat next to us and noone looked at them weird! It was amazing! Well maybe my dad but... you know!

It was a great trip! We didn't do much but it was great! The Köln trip was the best even though i think i twisted me shoulder by carring too many bags...  It still hurts like a bitch!

London shopping: Random edition

I was looking through all the stuff i got in London and realized i got a lot of other stuff thean what i have been showing here before.
It's really random stuff so i have been putting the pictures together to get through it quick.

Manga! Manga manga manga! From forbidden planet. This is my favorite manga series and they got it on sale. I got a few of them before for my birthday, but now that i got these 6 i only need two more to have the whole series in paperback! *.*
Uuuh and i found Death Note 1 and 2 on DVD! in the start i got the worng DVD and the guy behind the disk asked if i wanted the first one cause it was only a side story i got and i was like... yeah?? but instead of letting me go get it he called over the speaker that he needed the DVD and a man with only one arm came with it for me xD  they were so kind to me! Maybe because i was the only girl in the shop.. like.. it was sooo geeky that most of the guys looked at me weird like i didn't belong in there.

As the tea lover i am, i cound not go to England without getting some tea right? I didn't know what to get! I needed it all but i only had one suitcase to all of my things so i ended up with only these 3 kind.
The first and perriest one is from the giftshop as Buckingham Palace! It was soo pretty and it is a Ceylon tea!

The other two.. i don't know what it is xD Well the one from Chinatown says nothing in english only "Oolong tea" I had to google it to found out that it is actually a really coveted tea. Really good actually.
The other one is also Chinese but is from Marks&Spencer. i haven't tried this one yet. Embarrassing.

Fatty or not fatty? That is not the question. I bought too much candy over there. I was only in London for a week and could not taste it all when i was there so i had to buy something to take home. It's always fun to try out some other countries candy.

London Shopping: Clothes edition

Im am very disappointed with my shopping gene here! I was in soo many stores and i looked at so much clothes but i did not really buy that much!!!

I found a Forever 21 on Oxford Street and i was crazy excited cause i have been looking at their page sooo many times before and cursing over the shipping. They have a lot of cool stuff but the day i was at Oxford Street i had one of those days (sadly) where i was thinking "Do i really need this?" Instead of buying everything i liked... Not to mention it again, but i lost a lot of weight and my summer clothes was too big for me, so i needed some shorts.

These are kind of high wasted so i guess they will do great with a crop top!
And they had a big section with Sleep Wear. so yeah! I like the dog print (/*.*)/

In every souvenir shop they had a lot of different London shirts and all that. A lot of them was really ugly but i think this one was a great souvenir without it screaming "this is a souvenir from London!"

Sorry for exposing my belly fat on the blog but i got this super cute crop top from H&M! i love everything Japanese/chinese and the cats on the shirt is the japanese lucky cat Maneki-neko. Normally you get the cat in small statues and they are like a lucky charm or talisman and you can get them in different colours. Every colour have a meaning. The white is for good luck generally and the black for good health. This must be my new lucky shirt!

Embarrassing but i was looking for a Victoria's Secret for a looong time but never found it. It should be somewhere in the Soho area but... yeah.. this genius forgot the map. LUCKY FOR ME they had one in the airport.. a rather small one sadly.. but i did get some underwear from there.. not that i want to take pics of it.. but here is the cute bag i got!

London shopping: Creative edition

I could not find my giant hobby store i have marked on one of my maps.. well... because i freaking forgot that map.. genius Helene... but i found some smaller once around the hotel and on a side street from Oxford Street called Ryman. It's a great shop and they have a lot of different things for the hobbyist.

The Ryman near the hotel was not that big but i got a folder and plastic pockets in A5 which is hard to find in DK, but they fits perfectly for my drawing now that i mostly use A5 size paper.

The Ryman near Oxford Street was a little bigger and had a few things i could use. These are skine tones colour pencils which i just needed. I already have the 36 pack Faber Castell colours (link to the left in Drawing and tools) but it does not have all these skintone colours. Derwent is a brand i know (i have the charcoal pencils) so there was no doubt when i found these. I needed them!

Yes these are pencils from HB to 8B i think and yes they are really horrible and draws like shit, but i got them because i liked the case they were in! I replace them with the drawing things i use the most and i can have my A5 paper in it ass well so i got myself a new pencil case that my pencils will not get ruined by!

London shopping: Harry Potter edition

Now that i fianlly found Platform 9 3/4 and was at the Warner Bros. Studios i took the opportunity (as the giant Harry Potter geek i am) to do a lot of merchandise shopping.

I was at Warner Bros. first and i really wanted to buy everything! The original school uniforms really spoke to me, but there was no prices on them and i didn't dare to ask the old mustache guy who was watching over the most expensive part of the shop...

Anywas i got a few thing! The Tales of Beedle The Bard! It was half the price of the one in danish at the nearest bookstore so of course i had to buy it! I ended up with small things like a magnet with Fawkes on it cause that was the same picture that was on my entre ticket :3 A little keychain with deathly hallows symbol now that i could not find the necklace. And a stack of postcards i will decorate my room with! Then i got some bookmarks for free!! yey

I have to talk about these mugs. I loooove them and i have seen them a few times online before and fell in love with them from the start. But the only place i could find them was the homepage of Universal studios in Orlando.. and i don't think that a porcelain mug can get from USA to Denmark without dying. SO when i found these in London i was so excited and i had to buy two... ups!

And this one is really important to me! Yes i am a Slytherin! A proud one! And i have been looking for a fake one of these badges on ebay before (guilty!) but non of them looked like the original and a few of them was actually the wrong color o.o  But i found this to add to the (not quite) uniform i have! I really just need the rope and i could go for a real Slytherin.

At Kings Cross Station there is a store next to their (fake -o-) platform 9 3/4 and it was full of people but my dad was actually excited about it. I guess it was because i was almost dancing and hardcore fangirling when i saw it. I was fangirling in the Studio as well but my dad stayed home at the hotel that day. But even though he is not a Harry Potter fan, he bought a pin for his cap that said Platform 9 3/4 xD  It was also his idea that i needed the mug btw. He thought it looked cool.

Once again the Slytherin pride! A little badge for 1£ can't hurt anyone! I just need a place to put it on now.

And an official ticket to the Hogwarts express! Actually it was also my dads idea that i needed this one xD  I though it was weird to buy, but i looked around and saw what all the others got and then i felt pretty normal when i bought this. (*cough* plastic Harry Potter glasses *cough*)
But sorry guys it's only one way. Im leaving for goods!!

I love skirts!

Okay i wasn't supposed to buy anything for myself cause i went shopping to find a birthday present for my friend but yeah.. that's what happening when you are waiting too long for the bus!
I was trying a lot of different skirts and dresses but i was trying to control myself and got only two! Be proud of me!!!!

So the minty green skaterskirt is from H&M and was only 130DKK so that was acceptable.
The other tartan one was a "collection test" from Sisters Point. They only got one home for the store of each thing on the rack for only 100DKK.

The belt was just something i think would look good with the minty green skirt. It's from VILA and was also only 130DKK.

Aaaad in the end i was kind of in love with this dress but im not the hardcore party type and i can't see when i could wear a dress like this, but it was sooo pretty and the fabrics would be amazing at summer time!

I did a 'av' thing

Yesterday i was finally seing some of my friends again :D  we don't reallt see each other that often now that we finished school and they move away or you simple run out of money so you can't visit them.. ermh... xD

But we met in the city and Lonnie should have her navel pierced and Maja should have a upper ear pierced as well. I have been thinking about getting my upper ear pierced for a long time too (i actually made a deal with myself, that i should do it the same day i got my driving license), but i simple never dared to do it, but i did it this time! I saw Maja do it and even though they laughed at me when i sat down in that damn chair (grrrh), i did it! Aargh!

What i didn't think of, is that i can't really wear my glasses now and i got it pierced in the right side, which is the side im sleeping on.. emh... so i didn't really sleep very well last night, but it will stop hurt sometime soon i guess xD

Uh! And even though i walked past it sooo many times but i did buy the Fahrenheit game this time xD  it was super cheap but i don't know yet if my computer is too new to play it, because it's from 2005 and made for a windows XP. It is one of my biggest problems lately now that i have the time to play my old games again.
